End of Year News

We hope this finds you enjoying a beautiful week.  It has been a busy year and it is hard to believe we will be sharing our last days of school together.  Over the last week, we have thought about how each and every student has grown here at JAC.  We have shared many successes, big and small, throughout the year, and it has been a pleasure watching the students' progress that has been made and goals that have been accomplished.

Next Wednesday morning, we will wish the fifth grade students well as they transition to middle school.  We will share happy memories of our elementary years together, listen to the chorus and orchestra perform, and celebrate the end of elementary school. We know that as the 2017-2018 school year approaches, our new fourth and fifth grade classes will be excellent role models for the incoming third grade students.

Each and every day, we pause and think of how thankful we are for the JAC staff and community we have created to enhance the educational and social experiences of the students. Thank you for sharing your children with us.  It was a terrific year!

If your child is not at school for our last day, all personal belongings (projects, clothing, etc) will be left in an envelope with your their name on it on a table in the main hallway. Please pick up all belongings by June 30th.

Enjoy the summer,
Ms. Kennelly and Mrs. Kane

Move-Up Day - June 20th - On Tuesday, June 20th all students, K - 4 will participate in ‚ÄúMove-Up Day‚ÄĚ and have the opportunity to visit his/her future classroom.  Your child will meet their 2017-2018 classroom teacher (unless the teacher is on leave) and their new peer group who will be part of their new learning community in August.

Please know that your child has been placed in a classroom that many staff members have played a role in creating.  Each classroom is well balanced and set-up to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and understandings of the students.  Students were placed with peers who would best complement them, both academically and socially.  In addition, each student was placed with a teacher(s) who would best meet his/her learning style.

We are confident that your child has been placed in a classroom environment where he/she will learn, be challenged, be successful, and have supportive friends, classmates, and teachers!

A letter will be sent home with each student after the Move-Up Day experience.  In the event, your child is absent, the letter will be mailed to your home.

OUTDOOR RECESS/ACTIVITIES - It is important to dress appropriately for outside activities/recess. Outdoor activities/recess is held whenever possible except if inclement weather or when the outside temperature exceeds 90¬įF or is below 20¬įF, which includes humidity and wind chill factors. Any child not well enough to be outdoors for recess during acceptable weather conditions should remain at home unless we have a communication from the child's physician recommending that he/she remain in the building. Playground boundaries are established for all play areas. In addition to staying within the assigned area, children must also stay within sight of the playground supervisor. The final decision as to outdoor recess/activities will be at the discretion of the building administrator.
