JAC News

We hope this finds you all well.  What a great couple of weeks at JAC!  The students are engaged in active learning and we Mr. Middlemiss and I have enjoyed learning new things from them as we visit classrooms.  We saw third grade students using Dreambox during Guided Math Centers, fourth and fifth grade students engaged in online science/social studies lessons and musical melodies from band, chorus and strings.

Did you know....October 6th is World Smile Day.  The famous yellow and black smiley face was created in Worcester by Harvey Ball (commercial artist) in 1963. ¬†He thought that everyone should fine one day each year to devote to "smiles and kind acts throughout the world," and with that, World Smile Day began in 1999. ¬†The mantra for World Smile Day is "Do One Act of Kindness and Help One Person Smile." ¬†At JAC, we will do our part by having a Bright and Colorful Spirit Day on Friday. ¬†Yellow (in honor of the smiley face) is a good choice, as is any other bright color clothing or clothing with smiley faces of happy emojis. ¬†We are looking forward to continuing to follow PAWS and doing our part to encourage kindness and smiles on Friday, October 6th.

Enjoy the long weekend and remember to do one fun thing each day!

Warm regards,
Ms. Kennelly and Mr. Middlemiss
